About
Established in 2014
In 2014 a family that lived in and around the downstream Petrochemical industry saw a void in the turnaround safety marketplace. One family member, having been on the mechanical and pipe side as an end user of safety equipment experienced poor quality rental equipment and vendors that didn’t understand service. Being of entrepreneurial minds, a decision was made by Greg Smith to begin the journey of starting a safety services company in the Gulf Coast dedicated to the Petrochem and Chemical industries by providing quality equipment and personnel to perform maintenance functions carrying some of the very highest safety risks.
Select Safety Services is dedicated to delivering the best safety equipment rentals, sales, and service to our customers. Our reliable turnaround, experience, customer support, and equipment are superior in quality and our approach always has the end-user in mind.
So, whether it’s a planned turnaround, capital project, midstream, upstream, or emergency call out, we have you covered around the clock so you and your team can consistently work as safely and effectively as possible.
The company would structure itself in a way that would stay nimble and responsive to meet the customers ongoing and changing needs. Today the company is continuing in its growth by serving customers throughout the U.S. with some of the brightest and most resolute employees.
Our Team
Greg is one of the founding partners of Select Safety Services, helping start operations in 2014. Greg has been involved in management roles and equity interests in the rental service business since 1989, and in upstream oil and gas as president of Dunn-McCampbell Royalty Interests. Greg is active in many community organizations and has served in various leadership roles. He recently completed his third term as a Corpus Christi City Council member. Greg majored in finance at the University of Texas at Austin.
Over the last 15 years, Kevin has had the great opportunity to grow his skills and abilities within safety sales, safety equipment regulations, safety process management, safety consulting and fall prevention/fall protection within the oil, gas, and petrochemical industry. Kevin is now moving forward within the safety industry to focus directly on the field of safety equipment rentals and onsite safety services. Working with Select Safety Services has allowed him to improve the safety culture within industrial facilities, and to extend the knowledge needed to the industrial markets regarding these issues. As a leader within the company his goal is to build the best team in the business by developing the culture of a true service provider, and by developing communications across the board.
Ali oversees sales and marketing for Select Safety Services. She is actively engaged with operations to ensure there is synergy between the sale, project execution and completion. Ali brings 17 years of experience serving in various dynamic roles operationally and in business development. She holds her Associate’s degree of Applied Science in Surgical Technology through Kilgore College, her Bachelor’s degree in Business and Marketing Development from The University of Texas at Tyler and has seven years of industry experience.
As VP of Client Relations, Jeff oversees the development of strategic customer relationships and the company’s client servicing capabilities. He brings vast career experience from the medical, professional services and industrial markets. Having held many national-account, business development, and brand management positions, he compliments Select Safety Service’s national growth. Jeff also brings with him proven experience in Safety Services for the petrochemical industry that includes turnaround safety support and In-Plant safety service offerings. He will continue to help customers be successful by aligning Select Safety Services resources to their strategic initiatives. Jeff is a graduate of Western Washington University with a bachelor’s degree in communications and business administration.
With 23 years of hands-on sales and field services experience in the Petrochemical, Oil and Gas industries, George has acted in the capacity of an Account Manager, Operations Sales Manager and Senior Project Manager field services. George operates with a heartfelt approach and sense of urgency with all aspects of mentorship, customer service and project delivery. His extensive experience in Turnaround Planning, Scheduling and Execution of major projects has placed George in the top tier of customer satisfaction, on time on budget operational excellence, and trust. George’s extensive knowledge of regulatory standards, best practices, safety equipment, utilization and management using state-of-the-art and real-world applications will excel Select Safety’s field services and special projects to greater heights and success ongoing.
Brenda oversees the accounting department for Select Safety Services. As the controller, Brenda plans, organizes, and controls the financial and accounting functions, practices, and procedures for the Company to ensure achievement of our long and short-term goals. Brenda holds a Bachelor’s of Business Administration from the University of Incarnate Word and is a licensed Certified Public Accountant in the State of Texas.
